Tetris
The falling-block classic — clear lines, climb levels
How to play
Tetris is the iconic falling-block puzzle: seven tetrominoes (I, O, T, S, Z, J, L) cascade down a 10-wide, 20-tall playfield, and you slide, rotate, and drop them to pack complete horizontal rows. Each full row clears and pushes the rest down; clear four at once and you score a Tetris. Wuti Zone's Tetris ships SRS-correct rotations with wall kicks, a 7-bag randomizer, a 5-piece preview queue, hold piece, hard drop, and a deterministic daily seed (every player worldwide gets the same bag sequence on the same UTC day). Survive as long as you can — the gravity speeds up every 10 lines cleared.
Rules
- Playfield: 10 columns × 20 visible rows. Pieces spawn at the top center and fall under gravity.
- Seven tetrominoes (I, O, T, S, Z, J, L) appear in a 7-bag shuffle — you see every piece exactly once per bag, then the bag reshuffles.
- Clear a row by completely filling it; clearing 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 rows in a single lock awards 40 / 100 / 300 / 1200 points (× level + 1).
- Clearing a Tetris (4 rows) is the highest-value clear; consecutive clears chain a combo bonus of 50 × combo × (level + 1).
- Hold one piece in reserve at any time (one swap per piece lock). Useful for parking an early I-piece while you build a Tetris well.
- Soft drop (↓) descends one row at a time for +1 point per cell; hard drop (Space) slams down to the floor for +2 points per cell.
- Every 10 lines cleared the level rises by 1; gravity halves per level via the standard 1000 × 0.85^level formula, floor 50ms.
- Game over when a freshly spawned piece overlaps an existing block at the top of the field (block-out).
- Daily mode: every player worldwide gets the same 7-bag sequence for the same UTC day. Refresh your tab and the in-progress game resumes.
Strategy tips
- Keep the stack low and flat — build a clean surface and avoid holes you can't reach with a future piece.
- Save one well column (usually the rightmost) for the I-piece, then drop the I vertically to clear four rows at once for the Tetris bonus.
- Don't soft-drop reflexively. Hard drop is faster, awards more points, and avoids the lock-delay surprises.
- Use Hold to park an awkward S/Z/L early when you have nowhere good to place it; pull it back when the well calls for it.
- T-spin setups are advanced — leave them until you can read the field in three pieces; for casual marathon a flat stack beats fancy tricks.
FAQ
- Is Tetris free?
- Yes. Wuti Zone's Tetris is completely free, no signup, no download.
- How does daily mode work?
- Daily mode picks a deterministic 7-bag sequence based on the UTC calendar day. Every player worldwide sees the same pieces in the same order that day — refresh your tab and you'll resume the same game.
- Does my best score save?
- Yes. Your best marathon score is stored in your browser's localStorage. Daily completions also bump your streak.
- Can I play on mobile?
- Yes. Tap to rotate, swipe left/right to move, swipe down for soft drop, swipe down fast for hard drop, two-finger tap to hold. Cells stay big enough for thumbs.
